Do you have any info on him as to whom he married and when he died? I have a Edward Cantwell who was my GG-grandfather who married Margaret Toomey. They had a son Edward Cantwell that was born Oct 15,1871 in Phila.,Pa. I was just wondering if this 13 yrs old might be my GGG-grandfather. Please let me know. God Bless Violet Lynch
I have done a lot of work on the NOLAN family that immigrated during the famine years (1849) out of Galway. These NOLANs immigrated first to Philadelphia, and then moved to NYC in 1851, and then moved in 1868 to Hudson County, Jersey City, New Jersey. Their two oldest sons, Thomas (born in Philadelphia) and John (born NYC) became quite prominent in Hudson County, West Hoboken, NJ. What struck me was a lot of "familiar territory". I have copied a lot of records from St. Michael's Church in West Hoboken for the late 1890s and early 1900s, and there are a lot of "TOOMEY" surnames that were involved with the babtisms, first communions, and marrying other NOLANs (not part of our family) in the records. Is there any connection between your TOOMEY's and Hudson County, NJ?
