When I looked on the other websites you gave me before, deaths & marriages, it went only to 1900. So with Sarah & James not arriving til 1905, I couldn't find any info. So could you tell me what sites you were using? I am still pretty new at this. Also when you listed my Dad, uncle, and aunt, it said I could view their image. How can I do that? This is so exciting. I want to thank you so much for all your help and info that you are sending me. What is the www. for deaths/marriages in NY, do you know, since they died in NY? I tried substituting NY in the info you gave me for IL, but it wouldn't work. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Liz

I am not sure whether there is a connection or not. The Walter Nolan I am seeking had a father called James Nolan and it is feasible that this James Nolan could have been a brother of your Walter! James's occupation was listed as Farmer on the wedding certificate of his son (my) Walter Nolan, dated 10 January 1887, to Mary Teresa Murphy (my relative). The other Nolans listed on the wedding cert were Martin and Bridget Ann Nolan. I have also found information about Bridget Ann Nolan marrying a Richard Murphy from Busherstown, County Wexford in 1890. Do you know whether your Walter's brother James was a farmer in Busherstown, County Wexford? Ultimately my search is to see whether any descendants of Walter and Mary Nolan are living, and if they are still based in Mexico. I have not seen much on the message boards about the Irish in Mexico though. If you have any further clues re the Nolan clan, I would be most grateful. Best wishes, Alison

Thanks for answering so quickly. My Grandfather James Nolan (b. 1886, d. 1947) was born in Waterford, Ireland. I am not sure how old he was when he left Waterford. He met my Grandmother, Sarah McManamon in Chicago, IL. Then they had 3 children-John, (my Dad), James & Susan. They moved to Salamanca, NY in the early 1930's. They lived the rest of their years in Salamanca. As far as I know, my ggrfather and ggrmother (John & Johanna) did not come to the States at all. My Dad died a year ago, I don't have contact with my uncle much and my aunt has suffered a stroke. I don't know what parish they belonged to in Chicago. My ggrfather's name was John Nolan (b.1854-1917) and he married a woman by the name of Johanna Carroll ((b.1860-1929). I am assuming they lived in Waterford, too. My ggrfather had a brother named Martin Nolan (b. 1850-1926). Marriage infor I don't have. I know my grfather & grandmother married after 1907 and before 1917 in Chicago somewhere.! I really regret not writing things down before my Dad and his relatives passed away. But the years flew by...Thanks for all your help and I will try those places you gave me. Thank you. Liz
