Hi list members, I was recently asked how I keep track of all the little notes for each family in my ancestral lines. You know, you found the name in the census, you know it belongs to that line, but you don't know who it is or where to keep it. This can certainly amount to a huge pile of papers if we're not careful. The way I solved the problem was this: At the end of an ancestral line I always add one more generation without a given name and put all the tidbits of data into the note section of that unidentified person. Example: My Hindsley line ends with John Hindsley who died in 1574. I give him a father without a given name, just using the surname. Then I open the notes section for that non-person and add all the notes for the unidentified Hindsley line there. If I advance John's line back further I can easily cut and paste those notes into a new non-person at the end of the line. When adding new people into the Hindsley line I can check that note section to see if I have any data on the new person. Karen
