GB, That is a very nice quote, indeed, Glory Bee. Family love shows up where least expected. I just today learned that a cousin was in a local hospital near death. I had no idea she was in this area. But her granddaughter found my name on the internet and contacted me. Your quote: "I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew that someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you." That is so true; I will visit my cousin as soon as I get a response from her granddaughter for more information. This is from another list and I musg share it with you is this not true???? glory bee I received this recently on one of my Scotland lists. Dear Ancestor: Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marble stone. It reaches out to all who care it is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist. You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you in flesh, in blood, in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew that someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you. Having returned from Scotland and England recently, I wish I had this sooner, as we visited many ancestors in their place of rest, hope they knew that someday we would find them. Jocelyn K. Clark
Hello Everyone, Last week I issued a challenge to NM Researchers to submit Family Group Sheets (FGS) to http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/newmexico/ to take us over the top of 100 submissions. I'm very happy to report success. Researchers now have 111 FGS to view. I added a new search engine to the main page (Pico Search) I'll update it every month to reflect new FGS and names thereon. I'm very enthusiastic about NM FGS. This is a wonderful tool for researchers. I have allowed another manager to take over the very successful Kansas FGS Project so I can concentrate on New Mexico FGS. Send those NM FGS now! The NM Photo project is doing extremely well. It now has photos from Mora County, Bernalillo County making 13 other counties. Over 600 photos are online and growing daily. Consider linking to the site from your County web site. Let us know if you have linked to it so we can return link. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nmtombstones/ Send more photos too. Photos of graves without markers are also acceptable. Please give locations of photos submitted. CWBarnum, CC Lincoln Co. NMGenWeb

I think David is saying that the Archives TOCs are not linked to the home pages but that isn't so. All the counties are linked to their parent sites. The links are closer to the TOP of the page rather than the bottom as is the case with most of the states. I try to check the links about 2 times a year to make sure they are correct. Sam-Quito. Thank you for forwarding the message. I put a link to the New Mexico ftp folder on the home page of NMGenWeb. This page has links to each of the counties in NMGenWeb. If the CCs choose to link to it for their specific counties, I would be happy to assist them in finding the URLs, if needed. It makes sense to me to make CCs aware that the links exist and contain useful information. We have not been in the habit of mandating how CCs set up their Web sites here in New Mexico beyond the very basic requirements. At this point, it is the CCs' choice whether they place a link to the New Mexico archives on their Web sites. While it's a good thing to have on our county pages, and I would encourage CCs to consider it, I will not demand it. Thank you for asking. this is from another weblist. thanks Bette of Arizona list. These lists have so much to offer and share.. Often Sally also has considerable info to post and share.. and I pass it along for your genealogical benefits.. Glory bee This was sent to the Roots list this week. It is such a good site. This and the War of 1812 seem to be sort of "forgotten" wars and do not have as many sources. This one is a gem. http://www.spanamwar.com/geneaol.htm#Rosters Bette
Good morning. Gary Webb has a nice web site at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/nm/topic/cemeteries = Cemeteries of NM. I've known Gary for several years. I encourage anyone to send him your surveyed cemeteries and any related photos. It would help NM researchers if he could reproduce all of the cemetery surveys in the Archives. (As information, on the Policy Statement appearing on the web site, I am listed as a General Member to that site.) The NM Tombstones Project is doing well. We are working on about 600 photos at this time. Submitters should know that no special photographic imaging skill is required to submit a photo. We handle the editing and re-sizing. Those who know how to editing are encouraged to do so before submitting, but it is not necessary. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nmtombstones/ NM Tombstones is a project by Marcena Thompson, a NMGenWeb CC and a very active NM volunteer genealogist. The NM FGS Project: We are slightly ahead of other states our size in the number of FGSs submitted. I hope we will break thru the 100 mark this coming week. We have over 90 today. If you like to submit a NM FGS, there are two ways. Visit the site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/newmexico/ to see the forms. If there is substantial interest by NM CC's, I'd be proud to convert NM FGS to a NMGenWeb Special Project. That will require authority from the SC to rootsweb (or another host) for web space. The existing web space is owned by the FGS Project. (I am the manager of the NM FGS Project.) Have a great day everyone, Charles Barnum
