She was born May 12, 1936 in Rodey to Gomecindo P. and Cornelia Varela Castillo. She was homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Manuel V. Bustamante of the family home; one son, Manuel C. Bustamante, Jr., (Christy) of Salem; two daughters, Anita Gomez (Ramon) of Las Cruces and Lucy Olivas (Benjamin) of Rincon; her half-brother, Larry Castillo of Hatch. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Luis B. Gomez, Francisco B. Gomez, Rebecca Valdez, Adriana Delgado, Andres Olivas, Samantha Bustamante, Joshua Bustamante, and Courtney Bustamante; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Anita Mesa and six brothers, Alfonso, Antonio, Teofilo, Ramon, Gomecindo and Julian Castillo. Visitation for Mrs. Bustamante will begin at 6 PM, Friday, March 11, 2011 in Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church, in Hatch, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the same church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Rodey where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Luis B., Francisco B. Gomez, Joshua and Leonard Bustamante, Andres Olivas and Larry Castillo.
