After a long, disabling illness, Gen has joined her beloved husband, "Zim", in eternal life. Gen was born to Claude Posey & Nellie Pearl Latham Posey on July 29, 1921 and spent her childhood in Mayhill, near Cloudcroft, NM. Gen was one of six children; Gladys Posey Hadley (deceased), Alvin Posey (deceased), Edwin Posey (deceased), Delbert Posey (deceased), and Betty Posey Crockett (Puyallup, Washington). In 1940, Gen married Urban C. Zimmerman and they resided primarily in Las Cruces. Urban preceded Gen in death and passed away February 27, 1996. She is survived by one son, Urban Douglas Zimmerman of Parker, CO. Gen or "Tami", as she is referred to by the grandchildren, is survived by four grandchildren; Melanie Zimmerman Schwaner, Albuquerque, NM, Kevin Zimmerman, Las Cruces, NM, Jason Zimmerman, Laurel, MD and Sarah Zimmerman Voisin, Williamstown, MA, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gen enjoyed fishing, camping in her RV and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a great storyteller and especially enjoyed reminiscing about exciting adventures from her childhood and camping trips with her beloved "Zim". She attended Church of Christ on Miranda. Please join Gen's family for Graveside services at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces on Saturday, March 5 at 10 am. If you are unable to attend the services, your prayers for Gen will be deeply appreciated. Cremation will be handled by Baca Funeral Home. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the employees of Arbors of Del Rey and Home Instead for the many years of care and the kindness bestowed to "Gen". In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the memorial fund established in Gen's name with the Alzheimer's Association .
