He was born November 6, 1953 in Las Cruces to Baltazar Sr., and Felicitas Peña. Mr. Peña served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded with the National Defense Medal. At the time of his death, Julian worked as a sales associate with Wal-Mart. Survivors include his three sons, Julian Peña, Jr., (Amanda Padilla), Armando Padilla Peña and Conrad Baltazar Peña (companion Denise Hernandez) all of Las Cruces; his daughter, Jeanette Marie Blankenship (Krystopher) also of Las Cruces; his companion, Mary Ann Baca; two step-daughters, Cynthia Crotts (Larry) and Juanita Baca (companion Jonathan McPherson); four brothers, Zeke Peña, Eli Peña, Baltazar Peña, Jr., and Ruben R. Peña; five sisters, Eva Gonzales of Amarillo, Texas, Pauline "Gina" Hill of Missouri, Lucy Zamora and Adeline "Mickey" Weaver both of Las Cruces and his twin sister, Elizabeth Peña of California. Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, his goddaughter, Nevaeh Iniguez and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Florencio Peña. Visitation for Mr. Peña will begin at 6 PM, Monday, February 28, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in the same Chapel. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Military Honors will be accorded by a Ft. Bliss Honor Guard and El Perro Diablo Detachment - Marine Corps League. Serving as casket bearers will be Julian Peña, Jr., Armando Peña, Conrad Peña, Krystopher Blankenship, Baltazar Peña Jr., William Quezada, Jonathan McPherson and Larry Crotts.
