Candelaria was born in Tortugas, New Mexico on January 25, 1921 to Piro Tiwa Manso Cirildo Avalos and to a beautiful Native American Apache mother Guadalupe Avalos. Canelaria retired from Memorial Medical Center after 20 years of service in the housekeeping department. She had a passion for cooking, enjoyed reading and walking. She will be remembered most for her deep faith and love for our Blessed Mother our Lady of Guadalupe. She is survived by one son Antonio Avalos and two daughters, Nellie Hernandez and husband Salvador and Ramona Avalos. One brother Eliseo Avalos and his daughter Mary Jane Avalos. Two sisters Ciprana Guzman of Watsonville, CA and Mary Hernandez of Mesilla, NM. Candelaria was blessed with seven grandchildren Juan Diego Lara, Merlinda Acosta, Mary Hernandez, Terese Ceballos and her husband Cesar, Sal Hernandez, Jr., Anthony Avalos and Angel Leigh Hammering. She had seventeen great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents her son Guadalupe Avalos, two sisters Frances Molinar, Petra Martinez and one brother Adolfp Avalos. Visitation for Candelaria will begin Tuesday evening, March 29 from 6-7pm at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chapel 555 W. Amador with a prayer vigil to begin at 7pm. Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday March 30, at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church 100 S. Espina at 10:00am, at her request, cremation will follow. Pallbearers will be Juan Diego Avalos, Juan Jr. Avalos, Joseph Hernandez, Gustavo D. Soto, Anthony Avalos, and Cheyenne Cabellos.
