Those of us that he leaves behind are the unfortunate ones. George Ova Moyers II also known as "Georgie" was born on January 4, 1951 in El Paso, Texas to George Jacob Moyers and Mary Lee Williams Moyers. He was the second of five children, he was raised in Rincon, NM, he attended elementary through high school in the Hatch Valley where he played football and was a member of the Iyani Club in which they performed traditional Native American dances.. He graduated from Hatch Valley High in 1969. After graduating he joined the U.S. Navy where he was an aviation electrician stationed in San Diego, California and Okinawa, Japan. George was also a Vietnam Veteran and was very proud that he, like his father, had honorably served his country. He and his former wife, Kathie Franzoy had three children; Richard, Craig and Kassandra. He married Judy Ann Virden on October 4, 1996, they were later married in the Mesa, AZ. temple, and have been married for 15 years. He served as counselor in the Branch Presidency of the Hatch Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for several years. He truly was a "jack of all trades." He would often lend a hand to any one in need whether it was fixing a car, assembling a toy kitchen set, or helping out on the ranch in Tularosa. No job was too big or too small for George to tackle. George was a great story teller and he had great stories to tell. He loved hunting, fishing and visiting with his buddies about the good old days. He enjoyed sunsets and collecting guns. One of his favorite past times was tailgating with family and friends and watching his grands! on play football for the Hatch Bears. He also loved driving around with his special buddy--little George. George & little George shared a special bond. George and Judy loved to star gaze, watch lightning storms and go on movie dates. George was working for Lockheed Martin as an electrician at the time of his passing.
