Aldaz, 85, of Las Cruces on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at La Posada- Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his loving daughters. "Lichi" as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born September 8, 1925 in Anthony to Alejo and Elena Alvillar Aldaz. He worked as a foreman for the International Boundary & Water Commission and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his four daughters, Gaby Castillo (Danny), Mary Apodaca (Danny), Sylvia Aldaz, and Dora Apodaca (Mike) all of Las Cruces; a sister, Margarita Rosales of California; and a daughter-in-law, Rosie Aldaz of Anthony. Other survivors include twenty grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Bennie Aldaz in 2009, his parents, two sons, Luis Aldaz, Jr. and Alejo Aldaz, five brothers and a sister. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina Street, where the Funeral Liturgy will follow immediately thereafter with the Reverend Sean Garrity Celebrate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Military honors will be accorded by a U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League-El Paso Diablo Detachment. Serving as casket bearers will be Danny Castillo, Danny Apodaca, Mike Apodaca, David Alvillar, Alejandro Aldaz, Jr., and Reymundo Aldaz. The Aldaz family would like to give a special thank you to his loyal caregivers, granddaughter Patricia Castillo and Elisa Garcia, Monica Muniz, Guadalupe Renteria, also Holy Cross Ministries, Mesilla Valley Hospice and to Reverend Don Adamski for his wonderful words of comfort.
