Avalos returned home to his heavenly Father on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the age of 85. He was born on June 17th, 1925 in Tortugas, NM to Cirildo Avalos and Guadalupe Beltran Avalos. Adolfo Avalos was a life-long resident of the Mesilla Valley and served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. Adolfo and his beloved wife Eva celebrated 62 years of marriage. He enjoyed the outdoors and his routine walks around the neighborhood where he was fondly known as "Rudy". In addition, he was a tribal elder for the Piro-Manso-Tiwa Pueblo de San Juan de Guadalupe Indian Tribe. While on the tribal council and as an elder he was a key participant at numerous ceremonial events playing his drum and singing the traditional tribal chants. Adolfo was instrumental in teaching and training other members of the tribe for the benefit of future generations. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cirildo and Guadalupe Avalos and sisters Francis Molinar and Petra Martinez. He is survived by his wife Eva Avalos, his four children, Adolfo M. Avalos Jr. (Tedde Avalos), Edward M. Avalos, Richard M. Avalos (Joyce), Terri D. Singh (Jerry Singh), his sisters Candalaria Avalos, Cipriana Guzman, and Mary Hernandez and his brother Eliseo Avalos. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren Alexandra Terrell (Tom), James Avalos, James Avalos, Dwayne Avalos, Megan Skinlo (Mark Skinlo), Jared Singh, Adam Avalos (Laura Avalos), Russell Avalos, Felicia Avalos, Jamie Singh (Josh Savage), and Kyle Avalos and several great grandchildren. Adolfo will also live on in the memories of his other family members and countless friends. The rosary will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 7:00pm and the funeral mass will be held Monday March 28, 2011 at 10:00am. All services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral.
