He was born in Exeter, CA on December 18, 1947 to Roy Edward and Mary Vashti Mayben. Upon his graduation from Exeter High School in 1967, he served his country in the U. S. Air Force. In 1972, he married Marilyn Jones. Most of his adult working years were spent in developing sales routes, selling products for Bowes Seal-Fast Corporation of Indiana and, lately, for Warsaw Chemical Company, also of Indiana. He loved being self-employed and enjoyed the many friends he made along the way. He was a member of the Panlener Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mayben of Las Cruces; two sons, Jeff Mayben of Neosho, MO and Eric Mayben of Eagle Pass, TX; daughter-in-law, Melinda Mayben of Neosho, MO and three very special grandchildren, Madalyn Garren, Trenton Mayben and Olivia Garren of Neosho, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Denise Hall-Wright of The Colony, TX; father and mother-in-law, J.C. and Lois Jones of Las Cruces; 2 nieces and 3 nephews, plus great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins in various places. Galen was preceded in death by both his parents, a sister, Wanda Snow Mehl and a brother, Olen Mayben. At his request, cremation has taken place.
