ALVIDREZ, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, age 79, of San Pablo was called to heaven on Thursday, May 5, 2010 to be with our Lord. He was born September 24, 1930 in La Jolla, Chihuahua, Mexico to Concepcion and Bertha Barrera Alvidrez. Mr. Alvidrez retired from New Mexico State University as a heavy equipment operator, OFF, and was a member of the Iglesia Bustista de Mesilla. Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Elva Garcia Alvidrez of the family home; his children, Hilda A. Ortega and husband Rudy, Sylvia Tellez and husband Cesar, Oscar Alvidrez and wife Delia, Manuel M. Alvidrez, Gustavo Alvidrez and wife Tracy all of Las Cruces; two brothers, Homero Alvidrez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Lamberto "Tio Tito" Alvidrez of Lindsey, California; a sister, Alicia Alvidrez Rangel of Chihuahua, Mexico. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Visitation for Mr. Alvidrez will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 from 6 PM to 7 PM in Baca's Chapel o f Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM in Las Cruces First Assembly of God, 5605 Bataan Memorial West - off Hwy 70, with Pastor Cesar Tellez officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Oscar, Manuel, Gustavo Sr., Oscar Jr., Orlando and Gustavo Alvidrez, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Rudy Ortega, Cesar Tellez and Armando Sanchez.
