Caton of Las Cruces, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village at the age of 91. She was born in Pierre, South Dakota on December 20, 1918 to Roy and Hattie Rice. The family moved to Los Angeles, California in the early 1920's. After graduating from High School, she and Andrew DeJong were married and had three daughters. She workded in the Aircraft Industry and was actually a "Rosie the Riviter". She worked on various aricraft and helicipters over the years. She and Andrew were divorced in 1952. Kathleen later met Thomas P. Caton and they were married in 1953. She went to work for Honeywell assembling microchips under a microscope. Kathleen and Tom moved to Riverside, California and started a hobby avocado ranch. In retirement they got a 38' RV and enjoyed traveling and fishing. They eventually settled in Las Cruces in 1982. Tom passed away in 1983. Kathleen is survived by her two daughters:Bonnie Stephan of Redondo Beach, California and S! haron Lindsey of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is also survived by one step-son: Thomas Caton, Jr. of Fallbrook, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Caton and her daughter, Susan Gill. Kathleen was a member of the University Church of Christ and she enjoyed participating in various church activities until he health prevented it. She was and avid canasta player and enjoyed playing with the Welcome Strangers group. At her request, cremation has taken place. She will be buried next to her husband, Thomas at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
