McAllister Jr. 78 of Las Cruces, NM died Saturday October 9, 2010 at home. He was born in Chicago, IL on July 8, 1932 to James and Jessie McAllister. James retired after 22 years of loyal service as Sergeant First Class from the US Army where he served our country honorably during the Viet Nam Era, Korean conflict and the Cold War Era. He also retired from Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range. James enjoyed playing golf and the Chicago Cubs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter Tracie Valenzuela and husband Rudy; son Timothy McAllister and wife Mary; grandsons Steven Estrada and companion Nicole Alaniz, Joseph and Joshua McAllister; great-granddaughter Nicole Estrada; sisters Mary Maurisak and Colette Golon both of Illinois and Kathleen Faulkner of Wisconsin; sister-in-law Carol McAllister of Las Cruces and brother-in-law Calvin Von Weisenfluh of Oregon. James was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen McAllister; infant son James Garland McAllister; sister Dorothy Ondera; brothers Robert and David McAllister and by his parents and in-laws. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. James's funeral service to celebrate his life is at 10 AM on Friday Oct. 15, 2010 also at Getz Funeral home with Fr. Don Adamsky officiating. In lieu of flowers James's family would like donations be made in his name to Mesilla Valley Hospice, Inc. 299 E.
