He was born January 31, 1926 in Jalisco, Mexico to Remejio and Antonia Cordova Muñoz. "El Suegro" as he was fondly known to his family and friends retired from the Sanitation Department of the City of Las Cruces. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Magdalena Minjarez Muñoz of the family home; four sons, Fernando Muñoz and wife Sandra, Tony Muñoz and wife Alicia, Victor Muñoz, Richard Muñoz and wife Miriam all of Las Cruces; six daughters, Josie Muñoz-Sepulveda and husband Vicente, Jane Muñoz-Lopez, Otilia Muñoz-Borunda and husband Ronnie, Delfina Muñoz, Lupe Muñoz all of Las Cruces, Nellie Muñoz-Guerrero and husband Michael of Tucson, Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Carmen C. Muñoz also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include 38 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Santiago "Jimmy" Muñoz, two grandsons, Paul Vicente Peña and Robert Anthony Muñoz; a brother, Antonio Muñoz; four sisters, Gregoria De La Cruz, Crecencia Muñoz, Silvina Martinez and Maria Esther Chavez. Visitation for Mr. Muñoz will begin at 5 PM Sunday, October 24, 2010 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM Monday, October 25, 2010 in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Reverend Juan Moreno officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in San Albino Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Jimmy Muñoz, Jr., Amy Borunda, Chris Muñoz, Ray Sanchez, Daniel Muñoz, Andrew Vogann, Ronnie Borunda, Jr., James Muñoz, Jerry Peña, John Peña, Josh Muñoz, and Rick Nuñez.
