Salaiz, 79, of Las Cruces, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. "Lalo," as he was fondly known, was born March 26, 1931 in Deming, NM to Bernabe and Belen Salaiz. He was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, and a past member of the Lulac's. He worked for P.R. Burn Construction for 16 years and retired as a concrete finisher from the City of Las Cruces after many years of faithful service where he was named Employee of the Month numerous times. Lalo enjoyed being with his friends, picking pecans, but his passion was for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son Eddie Salaiz Jr; daughters Patricia Salaiz and Michelle Salaiz; brother Fernando Salaiz; grandchildren Danielle, Elisa, Denny Boy Jr, Benny and Robert Elias Salaiz who was more like his son than grandson; great-grandchildren Little Ricky and Robert Anthony and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lalo was preceded by his loving wife Victoria, son Robert, brother Albert Sr and sister Elvira Armendariz. A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with the Augustinian Recollects officiating. Rite of Committal for his cremains will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
