She was born in Rodeo, New Mexico on December 3, 1919 to Ira Bertram and Hattie Elizabeth Richards. When Lorena was 17 years old she went to Cloverdale, New Mexico to teach school in their little one room schoolhouse - all 8 grades, 17 pupils. In 1938 she married a local rancher, George E. Pendleton and they had two children, Tom and Betty Sue. She moved to Douglas, Arizona in 1961 where she worked as an accountant/office manager for the Ford - Lincoln Mercury Dealership for 15 years. The balance of her life she lived in Benson and Phoenix, Arizona, moving to the Golden Mesa Retirement Home in Las Cruces in 2000. Lorena is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Pendleton, five grandchildren, Kathleen MacKenzie, Lynn Bagwell, and husband Eddie, Steve Pendleton, Travis Pendleton and wife, Kari, Missy Udall and husband, Sterling; nine great-grandchildren, Madeline and Meredith Kemp, Hayden, Cole and Sadie Udall, Ryan and Lilly Bagwell, and Jack and Sam Pendleton; one sister, Elizabeth Burgess and husband, Fred; two sisters-in-law, Sally Richards and Rubylee Richards; six nieces, Linda Reid and husband Kyle, Betty Lynn James and husband Will, Freda Upchurch, Reta Warren and husband David, Leta Richards, Judy Richards; six nephews, Jim Richards and wife, Judi, Ralph Richards and wife, Ginny, Buck Richards and wife, Valeria, Jeff Richards and wife, Carol, Mike Richards, David Richards and wife, Vicki. Lorena was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Ira, Finley, Dick and Bill Richards; one sister, Katherine Rutherford; two nieces, Lois Ann Meloy and Laurie Hansen, and two nephews, Joe Richards and David Finley Richards; her former husband, George Pendleton and their two children, Tom Pendleton and Betty Sue MacKenzie. At Lorena's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service held. Inurnment of ashes will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery, alongside her former husband, and their two children.
