Ibanez, 90, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born March 06, 1920 in Luis Moya, Durango, Mexico to Baldomero and Eduviges Nunez Garcia. She was a homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband, Jose O. Ibanez; seven daughters, Edelmira I. Rodriguez (Francisco) of Costa Rica, Magdalena I. Sanchez (Jose), Pabla I. Lara (Clemente), Carmen I. Reyes (Rudy Jr.) all of Las Cruces, Martha I. Serrano (Carlos) of Brazito, Linda I. Paz (Steve) of Tortugas and Myrna Ibanez of Ojo Caliente; two brothers, Apolinar Garcia of Las Cruces and Baldomero Garcia, Jr. (Jesusita) of Mesquite; one sister, Blasa Gonzales of Mexico. Other survivors include twenty-three grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Alejandro Sanchez, great-grandson, Gonzalo Enriquez, two sisters, Angelina Peralta and Emma Gomez, as well as a brother, Antero Garcia. Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (today) Sunday, August 29, 2010 with recitation of the rosary to begin at 6 p.m. in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in the Basilica de San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla with the Reverend Richard Catanach, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Rudy Reyes, Baldomero Garcia III, Alfredo Hernandez, Israel Muniz, Steve Paz and Gary Martinez. Honorary bearers will be Jared Paz and Tomas Enriquez.
