Aguirre, age 79, entered eternal life Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. She was born June 17, 1931 in Rincon to Inocente Apodaca and Maria Hernandez Apodaca. She was a lifelong area resident and member of the Roman Catholic Church. At the time of her death she was employed by the Dona Ana Elementary School Foster Grandparent Program as a ""Grandma"" in the 3rd grade class. Visitation will begin Friday, September 24, 2010 at 5 p.m. with the prayer vigil to follow at 6 p.m. in Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana. Her mass of resurrection will be on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 9a.m. in the same church with the rite of committal and interment to follow in the Rodey Cemetery. Those to serve as casket bearers will be; Manny, Tommy and David Lopez; Jeff Shockley, Frank Musitano, Jr., Pablo Casso, Jr., Michael Lastra and Giovanna Musitano. Survivors include two sons, Albert ""Beto"" Aguirre and wife Trina of South Bluff, Nebraska; Ernesto ""Ernie"" Aguirre of Radium Springs; six daughters, Nellie Shockley and husband Gary, Ramona Musitano and husband Frank, Dolores Lopez and husband Tom, Rosemary Lastra and husband Mike, all of Las Cruces; Lupe Bassett and husband Noel of Phoenix, Arizona and Maria Teresa Martin of Smyrna, Tennessee. Other survivors include two brothers, Marcos Apodaca of Rodey; Felix Apodaca of Las Cruces; two sisters, Helen Woodward and Lucia Lopez, both of Hatch; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the parents; husband Alberto; one son, Lorenzo Aguirre; two brothers, Enrique and Juan Apodaca; one sister, Julia Wright and a granddaughter, Valerie Lastra.
