He was taken from us too soon, but his life will be celebrated as one lived with honor, courage and love. Born in 1953 in El Paso, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents Angela G. Rodriguez and Refugio "Cuco" Rodriguez. Ed is survived by two siblings, Martha Ann and Paul Charles Rodriguez, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, who loved him dearly. After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1971, he attended New Mexico State University where he received his BS in Police Science. Upon graduation in 1976, Ed began his long career with the United States Government, serving a total of 25 years. In 1976, he joined the United States Coast Guard, serving in Long Beach, California, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant (LTJG). After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, in 1988 he became a Border Patrol Agent for the San Diego Sector in Campo, California. Ed continued his service to this country when he began employment as a Customs Inspector with the United States Customs Service, where he worked for 15 years. In 2003, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created, Ed became a Customs and Border Protection Officer, a position he held until his death. In his 30's, Ed was an avid Skier and instructor at Sierra Blanca, N.M., where he taught several cousins the joy of skiing.
