Tharp (Lalo), after a long courageous battle against cancer, angels came to take her from the caring hands at La Posada on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Lois was preceded in death by her father, Earl Hite in 1969, mother Helen Macon in 2002, ex-husband, Jerry Tharp in 2004, nephew Benny Strawbridge Jr. in 2006, and daughter-in-law Betty Tharp in 2010. Lois was born in Deming, NM to Earl and Helen Hite. She raised her five children alone after 25 years of marriage. Lois worked as a carpenter at local window and door companies for a total of 25 years. She is survived by her brothers, Nathen Hite of Roswell, NM, Larry Smith of T or C, NM; her sisters, Hazel Strawbridge of T or C and Helen Bryant of Las Vegas, NV; her children Donna Bayhan, Jerry Tharp Jr., Jimmy and Victoria Tharp, Diana Tharp and Debra and Carl George of Carlsbad, NM; her grandchildren, Christopher, Jimmy, Nicole, Deedra, Elizabeth, Domonic; her great-grandchildren, Makayla and Skye and numerous nieces and nephews. At Lois' request, there will not be services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E. Montana, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
