She is now in heaven, joyfully reunited with her relatives, husband and beloved pets. She is survived by one sister, Maureen (Jack) VanBrooker; four nieces and nephews, Julie, Jodi (Michael Uhrig), John and Mike (Terri Boyle) VanBrooker; and one daughter and son-in-law, Bridget and Christian K. Monrad of Tucson. Kathleen was born to George and Mary Lynaugh in 1944. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in Canandaigua, where she attended St. Mary's School through eighth grade and graduated from Canandaigua Academy. She worked for 17 years with the Veterans Administration. She then worked with the United States Department of Agriculture in Maryland and Washington D.C., after moving there in 1980, with her daughter Bridget, to marry William Montgomery. Kathleen retired to Las Cruces, N.M. with Bill and they enjoyed traveling to worldwide destinations and most of the United States in their recreational vehicle. She moved to Tucson in 2006. Kathleen was passionate about animals all of her life and enjoyed volunteering with animal rescue groups, especially with retired racing greyhounds. Kathleen passed on her true love of animals to her daughter Bridget, to whom pets were brothers and sisters growing up. Bridget now considers pets her children and continues her passion for them through her career with animals and their owners. Kathleen will be laid to rest with her husband, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Arizona Greyhound Rescue or a favorite animal charity.
