Visitations will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 128 North Resler Dr. El Paso, TX 79912. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 400 West Sunset Rd. El Paso, TX 79922. Richard was born in San Antonio to Zacarias and Esperanza Peña. In 1980 he met his soul mate Anna Lisa Banegas in Las Cruces, NM. Soon after, they married bringing two families together. They enjoyed 29 loving years with their children Marilisa, Zachary, and Zeque. Richard was a hard-working family man. His charisma and integrity brought him from shining shoes as a boy to becoming a successful businessman. From the age of 18 years old he was a leader and an inspiration at work. And for 12 years he was a cornerstone as District Sales Manager for Coca-Cola El Paso. He spared nothing to provide for his wife and family. He was a genius of laughter and love. He enjoyed golfing, running, and playing with his two grandsons. Richard and his wife enjoyed going on spontaneous road trips and weekend stays at the casino. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him were filled with great admiration, and in the eyes of his family he was a perfect man who led a beautiful life. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Dr. Anna Lisa Banegas-Peña; children, Marilisa and husband Luke Moore, Zachary and Zeque; grandchildren, Grady and Isaiah Moore; sisters, Rachel Gutierrez (husband, Martin), Gloria Register (husband, Homer), and Mary Ann Rittimann; and brother Jerry Peña (wife, Olga). And wealth of extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the Richard Peña Memorial Fund has been established to benefit the students of Hatch Valley Public Schools. Please make donations payable to Dr. Anna Lisa Banegas-Peña, for The Richard Peña Memorial Fund; 312 Windrose Pl. El Paso, TX 79912.
