A memorial vigil service will take place this evening, August 17, 2010, at 7 o'clock at Holy Family Catholic Church led by Yvonne Chacon. The chosen cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory and a private inurnment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. "Coy" as she was affectionately known was born April 21, 1945 in Deming to Lucia Garcia and Jesus Chacon. She attended Deming Public Schools and on February 09, 1964 she married Henry Vasquez. Together they raised their families and took care of the needs of many others as they worked hard in the service station business. Close to the end of her working career she owned and operated "Coy's La Fonda" restaurant before retiring. She still had aspirations of returning to work in the food industry in which she excelled. Socorro was a communicant of the Catholic Church and followed Jesus' Commandment to love one another. Survivors include a daughter, Yolanda and husband Gene Schubert of El Paso, Texas; two sons, Frankie and Chuy Vasquez, Deming; three sisters, Teresa Avalos, Las Cruces, Gloria Rodriguez, El Paso and Mary Lauterner, Deming; three grandchildren, Franki Marie Vasquez, Christian Pierro Vasquez and Luci Jean Schubert; one great-grandchild, Moon Devon Vasquez. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Henry who died June 29, 2008; infant son, Henry Vasquez Jr.; grandson, Daniel Pierro Vasquez; two brothers, Miley and Jesus "Chuy" Chacon and sister, Molly Chacon.
