Rivera, Jr., 81, of Las Cruces, NM died August 24, 2010 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born October 01, 1929 in Las Cruces, NM to Robert and Gomesinda Rivera. Robert was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Robert had 34 years of faithful and devoted federal service. During his time he served at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico for the 83rd Civil Engineering Squadron. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Dolores of Las Cruces; six sons, Alfredo and Margarita Rivera of Las Cruces; Michael and Delia Rivera of Clarksville, TN; David Rivera of Las Cruces; Daniel and Monica Rivera of Tornillo, TX; Frankie Rivera of Las Cruces, and Steve Rivera of Las Cruces. One daughter, Lupe and Phillip Bencomo of Las Cruces; one sister Dolores Woods of Las Cruces, and one brother Edward (Moose) Rivera of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving are twenty seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, David Rivera; a daughter, Gloria Rivera and two brothers, Rudy and Frank "Kiko" Rivera. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the prayer vigil will follow at 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina. The rite of committal and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Mitch Dowalgo. Serving, as pallbearers will be Phillip R. Bencomo, George Pallares, David Rivera Jr., Frankie (Pancho) Rivera, Steven Rivera, Arturo Rivera, Ernest B. Wood Jr. and Larry Sanchez. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E.
