Mikel was born June 18, 1962 in Truth or Consequences to Bobby J. and Charlene Newella Allen. He was a member of the NRA, Hot Springs Archers, Mangus Bowman, and was an avid hunter, as well as a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Deborah Vance of T or C, his father Bobby Allen and wife Maggie I. Allen, also of T or C, his adopted father, Jon Vance of Ruidoso; one son Mikel Tommy Ward, and wife Jelvin of Alamogordo, daughter Tyanna Dezire Sullivan and husband Ryan of T or C; sisters, Heidi Vance (Paul) of Las Cruces, and Wendy Barnes of T or C; his uncle Mike Reid and wife Virginia of Elk City, Oklahoma; as well as numerous cousins and other extended family members. Other survivors include five grandchildren Destiney Ward, Mia Ward, Alexis Sullivan, Sean Ward, and Sydney Sullivan. He is preceded in death by his mother Charlene Vance- Burton, his brother Joe Vance, his paternal grandparents Ruth and James Allen and maternal grandparents Woodrow Newalla and Billie Reid, and maternal grandfather, Don Reid. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in T or C. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010 in the same church, with Reverend Tony Basso officiating. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
