He was born in Denton, Texas, April 15, 1932 to Marvin Self and Thelma Plumlee Self. He is survived by his wife Peg, of the family home. Also surviving are three sons from his marriage to Mariellen Wiley; Kevin, Davin, and Evan, all of Las Cruces and three children he shared from Peg's first marriage, Shana Veale (Joe) of Albuquerque, NM and John Hesse (Mary Ann) and Judy Young of Las Cruces. Grandchildren surviving are Tiffany, Dustin and Nicole Self and Heather Hesse. Brother, Fritz (Yvonne) and Tony (Georgann) and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive in Texas. Drue was the founder and Qualifying Broker for Drue Self Real Estate for more than 40 years until his death. He would want a special thank you to go to Drs. Benevento and Boulware who cared for him for many years and to Leann Maitland who has been like a daughter and who helped to care for him when he was ill. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chape,l 555 W. Amador Ave., Las Cruces, NM. Burial will take place at a later date at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Denton, Texas.
