She was born, May 11, 1923 in Silver City, New Mexico to Amado Borrego and Andrea Gonzales. Visitation for Josephine, "Pimpi" as she was known to many will begin at 6pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Baca's Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to follow at 7 pm with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City, with Father Marcos Reyna officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery. During her early years, she worked as a waitress at the Air Base in Deming during World War II, at the Silver Café, and other Silver City restaurants. She was always a gregarious, vivacious lady and would often break out in song or a joke for her family. Josie was naturally musical and was self taught on the piano. She would play the piano and sing at family gatherings with her sisters and brother. Josie was a devout catholic, praying the rosary daily, and asking the saints to bless everyone she knew. She joked that the saints were hunch backed because she burdened them with so many prayers. Josie was an extremely loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She touched many lives and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was also a very humble lady always making the most with very little. She loved to cook for her family and friends; she had too many specialties to count: empanadas, tamales, red and green chili con carne, albondigas, rice pudding, and her ! salsa was the best! Josie had a true green thumb; she enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables and making jams from her fruit trees. Josie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfredo Horcasitas; two sisters, Elisa Acuna and Carmen Romero; and one brother Lorenzo Borrego. She is survived by one son David and wife Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; two granddaughters, Dana Horcasitas Flocken and husband Phil of Denver, CO, and Debra Horcasitas Nunez and husband Danny of Las Cruces, NM; three great grandsons, Luis Munoz of Las Cruces, NM, Alexander and William Flocken of Denver, CO; one sister Virginia Fletcher of Calexico, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as casket bearers will be Robert Borrego, Robert Borrego Jr., Armando Borrego, Norman Borrego, Gilbert Romero and Alvino Provencio. Honorary bearers will be Luis Munoz and Danny Nunez.
