She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eugene Whitlow, daughter, Lori Byre and husband Greg Byre of Ashburn, VA, son Shawn Whitlow of Round Rock, TX, and her two precious grandsons Noah and Caleb Byre of Ashburn, Va., and her closest friends of 40 years, Kenneth and Sharon McCardle of Las Cruces. She is also survived by her brother, Butch Brogdon and wife Cathy of McCrory, AR; sister Mona Chilcutt and husband Charles of Dexter, Missouri; sister-in-law Cecilia Ingram and husband Kim Ingram of Lakeland, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Brogdon, her father, LC Brogdon, her father-in-law CE Whitlow, and her mother-in-law Gretchen Whitlow. She was born March 3, 1943, in McCrory, Arkansas to Lloyd Carl and Ruby Mae Brogdon. After graduating from high school she attended Ouachita Baptist University where she obtained a bachelors degree in education. She and Eugene were married in their senior year of college and following graduation, moved to New Mexico to begin their lives together. Ann began teaching a Lucero Elementary in 1965 and then continued her profession at Booker T. Washington Elementary, where she taught for 26 years. She truly loved teaching children! She was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 45 years, serving on numerous committees, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School. She was larger than life and never met a stranger. Her smile was infectious and she truly left the world a better place. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. At Ann's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 106 S. Miranda Street, Las Cruces, NM, on Friday, November 12th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's name can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to Mesilla Valley Hospice.
