He was born June 2, 1916 in Anthony, New Mexico to Gregorio Renteria and Canuta Candelaria. Mr. Candelaria served his country honorably in the United States Army and retired from Disneyland Theme Park as a carpenter. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Estella and Delia both of California; four brothers, Jesus Madrid of Garden Grove, CA, Fermin Madrid of Wildomar, CA, Ramon Madrid of Brea, CA and Jose Madrid of Anthony; four sisters, Maria Aldaz of Anthony, Manuela Bailon of El Paso, Texas, Angie Johns of Daleville, AL, Herminia Madrid of Las Cruces. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Herminia Candelaria; two brothers, Roberto and Alejandro Madrid; two sisters, Josefa Avalos and Magdalena Tellez. Visitation for Mr. Candelaria will begin at 12:30 PM Saturday, December 11, 2010 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 1:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with Reverend Andres Alava officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery with military honors accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League- El Perro Diablo Detachment. Serving as casket bearers will be George, Robert Jr. and David Madrid, Ruben Tellez, Jr. and Raymundo Aldaz, Jr. and Arturo Avila.
