Fajardo, 87, of Las Cruces died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. "Meche" as she was fondly known was born Sept. 24, 1923 in Deming, NM to Miguel and Josephina Martinez Ponce. She was a devoted catholic and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting but her passion was for her family. Mrs. Fajardo will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Amado Fajardo of the family home; son Manuel P. Fajardo of Colorado; daughters Martha Fajardo and Maria Fajardo-Zucconi and husband Harold all of Las Cruces; grandchildren Matthew, Maricela and Daniel; great-granddaughter Andrea; sisters Blasa Almeraz of Deming, NM and Beningna Garcia of Las Cruces and by nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving her is her very special friend and assistance dog "ANCHO". A visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, Dec.16, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will follow at 6:30 pm with Pastor Felix Gonzales of Living Waters Assembly of God officiating. Her funeral mass is at 10 am on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Sean Garrity officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Harold Zucconi, Matthew, Daniel and Maricela Fajardo, Gavin Lebow, Steven Bunting, Alvaro and Robert Florez.
