Salcido, 89, of Las Cruces left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father, Saturday, December 11, 2010 at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 18, 1921 in Santa Rosalia, Chihuahua, Mexico to Pablo Salcido and Martina Amparan. "Cipi" as he was fondly known to his family and friends, served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he joined his loving family in Morenci, Arizona and worked for Phelps Dodge Copper Corporation, as a master mechanic until his retirement in July 1980. During these many years, he was a proud member of the American Legion Post 28 and the Last Men's Club. He was also an active member of the Club Verde and Copper Clubs. Those left to mourn his passing include a son, Cipriano "Sonny" Salcido Jr. of Tucson, Arizona; three daughters, Mary Parra and husband Santiago of Las Cruces, Irene Chacon and husband William of Tucson, Arizona, Nora Romero and husband Joe of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Victoria Baca of Los Angeles, California, Maria Antonia Baldon of Tortugas and Socorro Serna of Las Cruces. Other survivors include nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther B. Salcido; a son, Rudy Salcido and a grandson, Orlando Salcido. Visitation for Mr. Salcido will begin at 9 AM Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM with Reverend Vincent Petersen officiating. Military honors will be accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marines Corp League - El Perro Diablo Detachment. Cremation will follow and private Inurnment of Cremains will take place at a later date. Serving as casket bearers will be Joe Romero, Alfonso Romero, David Fierro, Manuel Baldon, Santiago Parra, Sr., and William Chacon, Sr. Family request that memorial contributions be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E.
