Butch was born in Silver City, NM and raised in Las Cruces. He graduated from Las Cruces High School. He joined the United States Army Reserves in March of 1990 and was discharged after he was diagnosed. His life-long dream of honoring his country ended so that he could begin a battle for his life. He was the older of two children born on December 30th, 1972 to Fred and Jo Ann Lucero. Butch will forever be remembered by his devoted and loving sister Tara Lucero and brother-in-law Peter Ibarbo. He is survived by his loving wife Lucy Lucero, who will miss his billiard lessons, his dearly loved children Ashley Lucero and Xon Lucero, whom he doted on, his treasured nephews Nicolas Navarro and Desmond Ibarbo, his caring father and mother-in-law, Carlos and Maggie Morales, his sisters-in-law Laura Ramsey and husband Dustin, Berta Morales and fiancée, Sam, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Butch loved his pool hall family and of course playing pool, along with playing chess, cooking, laughing, and most of all having fun with his family and friends. We would like to thank the staffs of Memorial Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Hospital for the professional care given to Butch. We would also like to thank the employees of HomeKare Inc. of Dona Ana, City of Las Cruces, and MMC for their kindness and generosity. Butch touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, February 12, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home, 555 W. Amador Ave., Las Cruces, NM, 88005.
