Mason was born September 12, 1924 to George and Kathleen DeYoung in Minneapolis, MN. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he worked for the Postal Service in Minneapolis for 35 years before retiring to Silver City, NM in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, VFW and DAV and was an avid lover of the outdoors and sports. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, of 56 yrs. Juliet; his children, Marshall DeYoung and wife Patricia; Robin DeYoung and partner, Jeff Edwardson; Carole Peltier and husband Bill; Craig DeYoung and partner Ronaele; Jennie Fay and husband Michael; ten grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 22nd at 2pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Joe Pelegrino officiating.
