Padilla, 90, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Friday, February 4, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico April 5, 1920 to Juan and Isidra Avalos Guzman. Mrs. Padilla was a homemaker and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Cosme Padilla, and a daughter, Maria J. Ortega and husband, Robert, all of Las Cruces, eight grandchildren, Fernando Padilla, Patty Torres (Johnny), Cosme Padilla, Jr., Mike Padilla, Tanya Padilla, Ray Padilla, Amber Ortega and Cynthia Valenzuela, as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Padilla. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. She was laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Fernando, Mike, Ray and Cosme Padilla, Jr., Isaac Torres and Robert Ortega. The Padilla Family entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces.
