Diaz, 66, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1944 in Picacho to Juan A. Jr. and Antonia Orona Diaz. Ruben worked as a landscaper for the City of Hesperia, California before moving back to Las Cruces in 2006. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his parents of San Pablo; one son, Martin Diaz (Anita) of Las Cruces; two daughters, Denise Larison of Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania and Brenda Ann Folkman of Las Cruces; two brothers, Johnny Diaz (Ofelia) of Los Lunas and Antonio Diaz (Ana) of Doña Ana; four sisters, Mary Lou Trujillo of Las Cruces, Irma Molina of Santa Fe, Velia Reyes (Armando) of Los Lunas and Erlinda Roberts of Jacksonville, Florida. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ruben was preceded in death by two brothers-in- law, Tom Roberts and Johnny Trujillo. Visitation for Mr. Diaz will begin at 5 PM Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6PM. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 AM Monday, February 21, 2011, in the Basilica of San Albino in Mesilla, with the Reverend Richard Catanach, Celebrant. At Ruben's request cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Serving as casket bearers will be Johnny and Tony Diaz, Armando L. Reyes, Nick, Isidro, Frank and Albino Zuniga and Armando Rodriguez. Honorary bearers will be Armando Limon, Denvis Manns, Robert Ferreyra, nieces, nephews and the Las Cruces High School Class of 1962.
