Miranda, 82, of Las Cruces left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 7, 1928 in Santa Rita to Pascual Jimenez and Minnie Swartz. Mary graduated from Hurley High School and continued her education earning a BA in Journalism and a minor in English from Western New Mexico University. She served her country honorably in the United States Women's Army Corps during the Korean War and retired from White Sands Missile Range. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include a son, Phillip Paul Miranda of Colorado; two daughters, Crystal M. Luchini and husband Eric of Las Cruces, Victoria Salgado and husband Carlos of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Julian Jimenez and wife Ruth, Arturo Jimenez and wife Güera all of Phoenix, Arizona, two sisters, Rita Holguin and husband Liso of Silver City, Sara Puentes and husband Salvador "Chava" of Bayard. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Ian, Nicole, Monique, Carlos Jr., Gerardo, Mario and Kalina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Felipe Miranda; four sisters, Clara Martinez, Lucinda Garcia, Virginia Muñoz and Rosa Esquivel; two brothers, Genaro and Pascual Jimenez. Visitation for Mrs. Miranda will begin at 6 PM Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM Friday, February 11, 2011 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina with Reverend Sean Garrity officiating. Military honors will be accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. Family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E.
