Acosta, 68, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Monday, February 14, 2011 at Casa de Oro Senior Care Center. He was born August 13, 1942 in Mesilla Park to Jesus and Porfiria Melendres Acosta. Ventura served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include a sister, Lupe Holguin of Las Cruces, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Jesus Jose, Romolo, and Enrique Acosta; a sister Lorraine Trejo; and a nephew, James O'Neal Trejo. Visitation for Mr. Acosta will being at 6 PM Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer 300 E. Boutz Road, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 PM Friday, February 25, 2011 in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Reverend Juan Moreno officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League- El Perro Diablo Detachment.
