SEGOBIA (RUIZ), 72 of La Mesa. "Auntie Sue "as she was fondly known to family and friends, was born May 5, 1937 in La Mesa to Reyes Jimenez. She retired as a plant supervisor from Stahmann Farms after 40 years of service, and was a casino regular; her favorite saying was that the casino was her therapy. Auntie Sue was a communicant at San Jose Catholic Church where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Spiritual Society. She was a devoted democrat; worked the election polls and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Those left to mourn her passing include three brothers, Robert Segobia and wife Chelo of Anthony, Pete Jimenez, of Las Cruces, and Art Jimenez and wife Angelita of San Pablo; her sister Esperanza Jimenez of La Mesa; her special nephew, Orlando Jimenez; niece, Bea Jimenez; two grand nieces, Alexandria and Jacqueline, whom she helped raise as her own children. She was preceded in death by her husband Arturo L. Ruiz; her mother Reyes and step-father Pedro Jimenez, two sisters, Rita Oritz and Cruz Jimenez, two brothers, Manuel Segobia and Alfredo "Froggy" Jimenez. Visitation for Auntie Sue will began at 5 PM Friday, April 23, 2010 in San Jose Catholic Church, 353 Josephine Street in La Mesa, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 1 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the same church with Reverend Martin Cordero officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in San Jose Cemetery in La Mesa where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Robert Segobia, Pete, Art, and Santino Jimenez, Quinten Peralta and Jose Antonio Watson. Honorary bearers will be K. Grey Carrillo, and Alexandria Peralta. The Segobia and Jimenez family have entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels 300 E. Boutz Road. 527-2222.
