She was born, June 8, 1923, the third of 10 children, to Lewis and Clara Longcrier Camp in Eufala, Oklahoma. In 1941, June married Bill Prewitt in Oklahoma, but moved the following year to Carlsbad, NM, where they gave birth to three children. In 1954, the family relocated Las Cruces where she and Bill raised their family. During the following years, June was a homemaker, later worked for Rio Grande Insurance Company, and a long-time member of the Central Assemblies God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bill, her husband of 52 years; two brothers, and three sisters. June leaves behind her daughter, Charlene (Rusti) Van Duyne of Las Cruces; her sons, Billy Prewitt and Becky of Las Cruces, John Prewitt and Jennifer of Las Cruces, six grandchildren, and their families: Kriss Padilla and Rex from CA; Billy John Prewitt and Brook from CA; Stacey Prewitt Milner, and Jim from MN; Cody Prewitt from CA; Katie Prewitt Humphries and Dusty from TX; Holly Prewitt Peterson, and Nate from NM; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember June's love for: writing, God, family, friends, and pets. June enjoyed crocheting, singing, yodeling, and working in her garden. Neighbors will remember her beautiful yard, warm smile, and generosity. Friends will remember her laughter, strength, and endurance. Funeral services will be graveside at Hillcrest Cemetery on Tuesday, April 5th, at 10am.
