She was born December 13, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Dionicio and Braulia Carmona Flores. Lucia along with her husband David, were founders of Saenz Gorditas in 1955 and were vendors in the 5 de mayo and 16 de septiembre fiestas in Old Mesilla. She was a member of the Catholic Church; the Adoracion Nocturna at San Jose de Picacho and a cursillista. Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-five years, David "Blacky" R. Saenz of the family home; five sons, Jose T. Carmona and wife Minnie of Bell, California, Juan David Saenz and wife Yolanda, Samuel Saenz, Salvador Saenz and wife Alicia and Manuel Saenz and wife Nora all of Las Cruces; five daughters, Carmen Saenz-Kinney of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Bertha Rodriguez and husband David, Virginia Guerra and husband David, Emilia Gomez and husband Juan, Wilma Aguirre and husband Robert all of Las Cruces; six brothers, Pete Carmona of Los Angeles, California, Francisco Carmona of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Baltazar, Juan, Jesus and Miguel Carmona all of Mexicali, Mexico; two sisters, Rosemary Garcia of Los Angeles, California and Adela Carmona of Mexicali, Mexico. Other survivors include thirty grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Luisa Medina, Dominga Gomez, Pilar and Petra Carmona; a brother, Salvador Carmona; three grandchildren, Benjamin Guerra, Abigail Melon and Jesse Saenz; a great-grandson, Joshua Renteria. Calling hours will begin at 6 PM, Tuesday April 12, 2011 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the same church with Reverend Juan Moreno officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be, John Saenz Jr., Albert Guerra, Robert Aguirre Jr., Isaac and Andrew Gomez, D.J. Rodriguez, Jason and Tommy V. Saenz.
