He was born April 09, 1927 to Raphael Martinez and Flora Gutierrez in Duncan, AZ. He is survived by two sons, Ted Martinez and companion Lily Baca of CA; Gilbert Martinez of NM; one daughter, Sylvia Geary and husband Michael of OK. Five brothers and sisters: Nellie, Alfredo (Tina), Ernestina, Ralph, and Esther. Six half brothers and sisters: Lydia (Art), Robert, Tony, Rudy, Teresa and Alex. Five grand children, and two great-grand children; close and dear family friend, Amelia Gomez and many other thought of family, neighbors and friends. "CG" was a strong willed, prideful and caring husband, father, brother, and friend with a good sense of humor. He left knowing he had lived a long and fruitful life. His favorite passions were cheering against the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR's #48, and Tiger Woods. His favorite pastime was playing cards with his cronies, playing a good game of huachas against anyone willing to be beat and especially spending time with his buddy, "Ralphie" Marquez. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Socorro Martinez ('09). A funeral service and rosary will be celebrated Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Father Paulus Kao officiating. The internment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Ted and Gilbert Martinez, Sylvia and Mike Geary, Alfredo Martinez and YB "Nacho" Morales. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Decker, John Geary (in memory), Lisa Esquibel, Teddy, Christina and Cristal Martinez, Chava Legarda, David Willguess, Danny "Paco" Arzola, Severo Gallegos, Ralph Marquez (in memory), Rudy Herrera, Pascual "Wero" Castillo, Eddie Huerta (in memory).
