Mr. Cowger was born Jan. 8, 1935 in Punkin Center, TX to Harold Buren Cowger and Sadie Ayers Cowger. He was a longtime resident of the Hatch Valley and was a truck driver. Mr. Cowger is survived by his wife, Melba Renshaw, his children, Jowell, James Cowger, Donald McDaniel, Marily Sikes, Sheryl Cowger, Vickie Cowger, Bill Renshaw, LaDonna Kirk, Michelle Rhodes, Robin Renshaw, his brothers, and sister Earl Ray Cowger, Jerry L. Cowger, Virginia Cowger, Jimmie L. Sellars, Fred Smith, Gene Smith and Taylor Smith; thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosetta Joyce Dawson. Graveside services Wed. Nov. 6, 2002 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Hatch, NM with Rev. Jim Wood officiating.
