Barela, 68, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Tue., Oct 26, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 1, 1936 in Dona Ana to Manuel and Luisa Archuleta Barela. Mr. Barela servied his country honorably in the USArmy and retired as a grocery clerk. He was a former groundskeeper at Lockheed, NASA and WSMR and a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Antonia Marin Barela of the family home; one son, Steve Barela and wife Annette Barela of Las Cruces; three daughters, Michelle Sandoval and husband Dean of Alcalde, Marisa Lopez and husband Bryan of Japan, and Cynthia Rogers and husband Fred of Las Cruces; three brothers, Joe James Barela and wife Loretta of Las Cruces, Godfrey and Leonel Barela; two sisters, Henrietta Garcia, Norman Provencio and husband Bill all of Dona Ana. Other survivors include ten Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His parents; one sister, Mary Lou Diaz and one grandson, Jacob Barela, preceded him in death. Baca's Funeral Home. The Rite of Committal and interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military honors accorded by a Ft. Bliss Honor Guard and the Marine Cops League-El Perro Diablo Detachment. Serving as casket bearers will be Jaime Trevino, Michael and David Barela, Luis Eres, Elias Madrid and Larry Raught. Honorary bearers will be Luz Lucero, Paul De La O, Tony Eres, Jimmy Gomez and Monroe. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
