Paul was born January 19, 1966 in Denver Colorado, to Jose Pablo and Maria Elena Torres Lopez the middle of three children. They relocated to Las Cruces, when he was eight months old, and was raised in the area, where he attended Mayfield High School and remained an avid fan of their athletic department. Paul will be missed by all those that knew him through his constant laugh and sense of humor. Paul loved all sports and was a fan of the Chicago Bears. He lived a hard life but worked just as hard. Paul had many trades to his name ranging from culinary to a professional hauler. At the time of his death he was employed at Las Cruces Moving and Storage Company, where he worked for many years. Those left to mourn his passing include his mother Maria Elena Lopez, his only daughter Pauline Lopez Barreras and husband Timothy, all of Las Cruces, two sisters Linda P. Meraz and companion Robert Smith of Galveston Texas, and Michelle M. Rehberg and husband Darren, of Morgan Town West Virginia. Other survivors include his two beautiful and beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Liliana Barreras; nieces Sally Lopez, Crystal, Angelica and Victoria Meraz, and his nephews Rey Meraz, Joseph and Joshua McCormick, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Paul is preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Juan and Eutilia Lopez; maternal grandmother, Maria Jimenez, and maternal grandfather Pedro Garcia. Visitation for Paul will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 05, 2010 in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3210 Venus Street, where the memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. with Bishop Saul Hernandez, officiating. At his request cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
