Stewart was born, in Madison, KS, and came to Las Cruces as a young teenager. He graduated from NMSU with a degree in Chemistry. He served in the US Navy. While at PSL, he went to Kwajalein where he was involved in firing the first Nike missile. He retired after 42 yrs from NMSU as Director, Safety Dept. He was an avid Square Dancer. Stewart is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 yrs, Bonnie. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry, Mountainair, NM, Sons Roy Allen (Katy), Hal Stewart, and Shawn Michael (Corina), Corpus Christi, TX, and five grandchildren. Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 15, 2011, 10:00 AM at LA PAZ Funeral Home, 555 W. Amador, Las Cruces, NM. Interment will be private at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
