She was born February 25, 1921 in Iowa Park, Texas to Cephas and Ora Mae Jones. Although she raised her family in Lovington, New Mexico, Katherine resided in Las Cruces since 1997. She enjoyed reading and times with her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and gentle spirit that made adults and children feel comfortable around her. She was interested in the lives of family and friends and kept track of them through phone calls, writing, and visits. Katherine will be remembered as a sweet, cheerful woman and a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and her husband, David Houston Weaver and their son Kary Weaver. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mack and Gayrene Weaver of Las Cruces, son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Sherry Weaver of Albuquerque, eight grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. A mem! orial in Lovington, New Mexico is pending. The family gives a special thanks to the caregivers, nurses, and staff of Good Samaritan Village of Las Cruces for their quality care and compassion during her final months.
