MURILLO, 73, of Las Cruces passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 surrounded by her family after a courageous four year battle with cancer. She was born November 30, 1937 in Las Cruces to Jesus and Corina Lucero Soto. Bessie was a homemaker and a communicant at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. She was a very caring, loving, and giving person and would do anything to help others. Bessie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Alfonso B. Murillo of the family home; two sons, Alfonso S. Murillo (Doris), Theodore Murillo (Sandra); a daughter, Myra Murillo (Juan) all of Las Cruces; four sisters, Josie Jemente and Rosemary Cabrera both also of Las Cruces, Minnie Soto of Albuquerque and Margaret Villanueva of California. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Denise Montaño, Brandy Vasquez and Janyll Hernandez; five great grandchildren,, Taylor Montaño, Bailey Montaño, Alexis Mejias, A.J. Mejias and Xavier Mejias. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Filomeno Soto. At Mrs. Murillo's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10 AM in St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with Reverend Ricardo Bauza officiating. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
