Socorro Valadez Gonzalez, 65, of Las Cruces, went home to her final resting place on, Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1945 in Guadalajara, Jalisco to Tomas and Carmen Gonzalez. "Soco" as she was fondly known to her family and friends was a homemaker who was known for her wonderful and delicious cooking. Those left to mourn her passing include her children Ruben, Sonya, and Tommy Chavarria; Alexia Gonzalez all of Las Cruces and her sister Victoria Valadez of Guadalajara. She also leaves behind her three precious granddaughters Victoria and Genesis Gonzalez and Nicolette Chavarria whom she adored dearly. Socorro leaves numerous compadres and comrades, as well as many friends who considered her as their mother and grandmother. Socorro has gone home to be reunited with her parents, her brother Enrique Valadez and her beloved Godson Frankie "Oscar" Melon. Casket bearers include Ruben Chavarria, Tommy Chavarria, Lorenzo Saiz, Sammy Saiz, Josh Dominguez and David Montes Sr. Honorary casket bearers include Victoria Gonzalez, Genesis Gonzalez, Paola Giron, Cassandra Bustamante, Jeremy Lucero and Alyssa Lucero. Visitation for Socorro will begin on Tuesday January 4, 2010 at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home Chapel, 555 W. Amador at 6pm with a prayer vigil to be held at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church will burial to follow at St. Joseph's cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home.
